We returned to the beautiful surrounds of Kielder Water in 2017 for the fourth time. The 2017 camp was a complete sell out again with our biggest turn out of weekend and day campers. We also welcomed some very special guests who donated so generously to Children in Need to be part of Chris Evan’s Magnificent 7 Marathon experience.
Our industry professionals included camp regulars Paul Hobrough owner of local physiotherapy clinic Physio & Therapy, and Louise Sutton, lecture in Sport and Exercise nutrition at Leeds Beckett Uni. We welcomed Adela Carter, Strength and Conditioning coach at the English Institute of Sport, and some of our GB athletics stars Laura Weightman and Ross Murray who put our campers through their paces!
A very special guest joined us for the weekend, marathon man Ben Smith from the 401 Challenge. Ben completed 401 marathons in 401 days in 2016/17 and came to share his experiences with our very lucky campers.
Over three days our campers were able to learn about how drills will help with technique no matter how far you’re running, with the addition of a new strength and conditioning based session including some invaluable tips on mobility from Adela – and Ross Murray’s weekly MOT!
A new concept for 2017 saw campers take part in round table sessions with our professionals where they were able to have a more focused session on a particular topic.
Thank you to all of our 2017 campers, we hope to see you again next year!
