2016 saw our third return to the beautiful Kielder Water and Forest – we just can’t get enough of it! The 2016 camp was a complete sell out with our biggest turn out of weekend and day campers. We also welcomed some very special guests who donated so generously to Children in Need to be part of Chris Evan’s Magnificent 7 Marathon experience.

Our industry professionals included camp regulars Paul Hobrough owner of local physiotherapy clinic Physio & Therapy, and Louise Sutton, lecture in Sport and Exercise nutrition at Leeds Beckett Uni. We welcomed Dane Mitchell, head of Strength and Conditioning at Leeds Beckett University, and some of our GB athletics stars Laura Weightman and Ross Murray who put our campers through their paces!

Over three days our campers were able to learn about how drills will help with technique no matter how far you’re running, the importance of variety in your training including strength and conditioning, and some invaluable tips from Olympic athletes and coaches.

Sessions included; up and downhill efforts with technique, running drills lead by Laura Weightman (yes we can all benefit from some running specific drills, not just the pros!), a team paarlauf session in the Kielder Forest, and graded long run on Sunday.

We had some very insightful talks from our professionals, as well as a look into the life of BBC Breakfast’s Louise Minchin and how she has made it to the GB age group team for triathlon.

Congratulations to everyone who cracked their goal after the 2016 camp, especially to our magnificent 7 who took on both London and New York Marathons!
